Update log 11-04-14

So, another day of work. The castle maps have now been added to the game! *Applause*
I have added the first set of transportation points (the simple action of transferring the player to a new room when going through a door), though this castle is huge and has an entire fuckzillion of rooms and upgrades for them, so I'm not entirely done yet.

However, the last transportation points should be fixed tomorrow, and I'll then be talking to Muggins about a few things. After that I will start building the actual game around this new area.

First thing will be to smooth out the weird things we find now with the maps, if any. Second I will proceed with the main quest, and start building the castle as it is needed in the main quest. After I reach a point I am happy with I will add the upgradeable's, that is adding upgrade options to ALL the rooms in the castle. This castle will be highly upgradeable, and you guys will as players be able to use the castle's newly added features too. Once the game comes out you'll see which are available, and I've added a few of the planned features down bellow, if you are interested.

Content:

  • Added the castle maps
  • Connected the castle maps (Almost done)
  • Added more lore to the priest who tells you about the world in the temple.
A lot of the game will be centered around your castle, as so many things are possible in there for the player.
This does however pose a problem. See, the castle is motherfucking huge. I mean, seriously, it is humongous... So going from one end to the other would take a long time.

I am still thinking of the best way of solving this, and I'm likely adding maids around the castle who can be interacted with, and then asked to take you to a desired room, making things instant. If this does not turn out too clunky, this is how you will go through the castle normally, unless you want to walk around and explore. Who knows? Maybe you will find some treasure.

The upgrading system that will be added will work like this.

  • Almost every room have 4 stages to upgrade in to.
    • Messed up, clean, upgraded, luxurious.
  • Each room will upgrade individually. It will be expensive, as it is meant to be done as the game progresses to unlock new stuff. (Except for the messy part, as that will likely be provided for free or at least very cheap for the entire castle.)
  • Quest important rooms will need to be upgraded for certain things to progress. Example, the throne room and the divines own chambers will be upgraded one step early on in the questline itself.
  • Upgrading a room will unlock its new features. Some rooms will allow the player to do certain things like, having a museum to put rare stuff and trophies, allowing people to stay with you, unlocking new clothes, unlocking the ability to hold a feast or inviting normal guests etc.
  • Some areas will have no super ability when upgraded, simply adding for the sake of upgrading and adding prestige to the player.
  • Prestige will determine the size of the tithe's the divine will be getting from the people, and taxes.
  • The throne room will allow the player to do official business for the country, like changing laws and deciding on things that should be done in various ways.
The above mentioned is things that for now are planned, however, I do not promise that I do not change my mind on some of the areas, changing, or removing them entirely.

This has been a long post, and I apologize. My enthusiasm got the better of me!
In any case, good night people! I shall return to my slumber. And change all passwords.
(A lot of companies have been hacked, and we are advised to change passwords on pretty much everything... Just a quick heads up)

  1. maids for teleportation would be a little over used, just an idea, but you could use some kind of device, cristal or monument to teleport you to each section, as for the explanation on why they are there and what they are you could make use of a maid to do the explaing, that would not only break the big use of maids but would add a bit to the lore too, and it would be nice to not have to talk to a robot maid to move around xD.
Those are just ideas, it's up to you guys, not saying that it's a "must have", just that it would be nice to take a break from the sameness of the other fast travel.
